Small research problems.
Incremental impact.

unsech is an open-source research lab focused on small, often overlooked problems in Africa. We believe meaningful progress comes from steady, incremental improvements rather than waiting for perfect solutions.

Why we exist

Our goal is to contribute to the wider research ecosystem by addressing often overlooked problems. In doing so, we aim to spark research interest among undergraduate students and create a space for practical research projects that genuinely matter.

Contribute

We welcome undergraduate students, mentors, and collaborators from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds. Projects are open-source and designed to produce real research outputs, including published papers, datasets, prototypes, and documentation. Although our focus is on undergraduates, anyone with an interest in research is encouraged to get involved.
